Opal and Findings provide top of the line premium lab-grown opal, also known as simulated opal, synthetic opal, created opal, cultured opal or lab-created opal. According to GIA, in order to be opal, a material must be silica in composition as major elements. The opal we provide here at Opal and Findings is composed of at least 80% silica. In the lab, the opal can take over a year to grow into their vibrant colors. This slow growth results in a very similar structure and material balance as precious natural opals, but with increased durability and cost savings.
